Vic Williams will work diligently to make Arizona stronger as a State Representative. Top legislative priorities will include:

Fixing Arizona's Budget Crisis:

Raising taxes on Arizonans is not a solution. However, the weakening economy is going to force many tough decisions in Arizona's budgeting process during the next several years. Vic Williams will work to balance our budget without raising taxes or cutting spending for our students in the classroom. For the current budget shortfall a focus on eliminating wasteful government spending the State government can relieve the immediate crisis. In the coming months, Vic Williams will work to ensure pro-growth State policies that promote a robust local economy that will generate more tax revenue.

Ensuring Quality Public Education:

Too many politicians are willing to play political games with our children's education. Our society has a responsibility to ensure that children are capable and productive individuals that are ready to compete in the modern work force. Vic Williams will make a quality public education system a top priority by working to ensure that it is well funded, equipped, and ready to serve the needs of our children. Beyond being a societal duty for our children, a quality education system will serve to strengthen our state. A better education system produces a better prepared workforce, and this will in turn attract jobs, business, and industry to our state. Making a quality education system a priority will bring top jobs to Southern Arizona.

Building a Strong and Robust Economic Infrastructure:

In an age of changing economic dynamics, it is critical that state government works to foster and expand our economy. Vic Williams will work diligently to limit the size and scope of government red tape and create a pro-growth environment that welcomes new businesses and strengthens those already here, small and large. Arizona, as a state, must develop stronger local infrastructure that supports and promotes our economy. Pro-growth economic policies will bring good jobs to our state, will increase tax revenue without raising taxes, and will add to our every day quality of life here in Southern Arizona.

Stopping Illegal Immigration:

Vic Williams believes Arizona must continue to lead the nation in implementing and enforcing illegal immigration laws since our federal government refuses to take any meaningful steps in solving this problem. It is the responsibility of the federal government to secure our borders, make it economically unviable for employers to hire illegal aliens and to stop allowing those who are here illegally to have unprecedented access to government services. Vic supports any and all steps the state of Arizona can take towards these ends. Vic believes that the funding of such laws will significantly assist in Arizona's ongoing budget crisis by alleviating pressure on our over burdened medical, education and law enforcement entities.

Protecting The 2nd Amendment:

The individual right to keep and bear arms is protected by both the United States and Arizona constitutions. Arizona also has a long heritage of responsible firearm ownership by people who like to legally hunt, compete, and protect themselves and their family with firearms. Vic Williams will work to protect our second amendment rights and our heritage in the Arizona State House of Representatives.

Some people believe that the solution to violent crime is to prohibiting law-abiding Arizonans to purchase and own firearms. This method of taking firearms away from regular people is now a proven failure. While we should work diligently to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, and give stiffer penalties to those who use guns illegally to hurt others, unproven restrictions on firearms, taxes on firearms, and the registration of firearms and ammunition only serves to punish everyday Arizonans. Vic Williams will work to defeat senseless and unproven restrictions on firearms ownership, while simultaneously addressing violent crime with guns by increasing penalties on those who prey upon our society.

Reforming Property Taxes:

A predictable, fair, and more efficient system of property taxes is needed in Arizona.

Vic Williams supports a Prop 13 style property tax reform here in Arizona. Our current property tax system is based on periodic reassessments of property values that are constantly fluctuating. The result is a confusing, unpredictable, and burdensome bureaucratic system that does nothing good for regular Arizonans. We never know how much our property taxes will go up after a given reassessment.

Vic Williams would work to pass a property tax reform that would make a system that is based on the purchase price of a property, rather than the assessed value. Thus, people would be able to easily predict the taxes they would be required to pay on their property, rather than be subjected to the constant fluctuations of the market. Huge costs incurred by counties for constantly reassessing and inspecting the improvements made to property would be almost eliminated.

Defending Marriage:

Vic Williams believes that marriage should be between one man and one woman and would work in the legislature to ensure the preservation of that principle.

Reducing Crime:

Crime is one of the major blights that afflict Southern Arizona. Vic Williams will work continually to reduce crime and to ensure that criminals are adequately punished. Arizona needs more law enforcement and prosecutorial resources so our police forces and County Attorneys can more effectively arrest and prosecute all who commit crimes against Arizonans.

Vic Williams also supports Arizona's three strikes law and would work to ensure that the tough provisions of the law are maintained. Criminals who continually commit serious and violent felonies must be removed from society to prevent them from continuing their behavior and hurting more Arizonans because they were given lenient sentences.

Small Business Development:

Small businesses help make the backbone of our state economy, and there are thousands of small businesses that serve and support Southern Arizona. Vic Williams will be an advocate for small business in the State Legislature. To that end, Vic Williams will work diligently to limit the size and scope of government red tape and create a low-tax and pro-growth environment that welcomes new businesses and strengthens those already here.

Environmental Stewardship:

Arizona has many great natural and environmental wonders. Vic Williams will strive to be a steward of our environmental resources. We must work to encourage recycling and prevent our state trust land from being destroyed by litter and trash dumping. We must work to preserve our state parks, trails, and other land. By working diligently now, we can protect and preserve a beautiful environment for generations of Arizonans.

Water Resources:

The continued availability and safety of our water resources is a great concern for Southern Arizona, and it will be a top priority for Vic Williams. We must promote conservation and preserve our resources. We must ensure that our standards for safety are high. Further, we must ensure that Arizona's share of the Colorado River system is not reduced, depriving us of water we desperately need.
